Keld Helmer-Petersen
Helmer-Peterson is a Danish Photographer known for his high contrast images and colour photographs. His inspirations for his work are photographers such as Albert Renger-Patzsch, the experiments at The Bauhaus in Germany and by Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind at the Art institute of Chicago. He has published multiple books that explore dramatic contrasts of tone through the use of black and white images. It seems like he has decided to remove all mid-tones in order to make the image look more flat (no colour). Constructivist photographers were a big impact into Petersens work as he was fascinated in their fascination with architecture.
I have successfully taken my photographs which I plan to edit using Photoshop to create a greater contrast between black and white whilst also removing mid-tones. The aim for this shoot was to take photos that have a high contrast between the background and the foreground. This was so that in editing I could manipulate the threshold to maximise the contrast in my photos.
