Words I associate with this image
Remains, dust, scatter, gritty, ashes, vandalised, grey, dead, lifeless What type of photographer was he? After viewing his photos I believe that he was a very invested photographer who wasn't afraid of capturing reality and the more raw scenes. What were his main themes? His main themes were representation and anthropology What was he trying to capture? He tried capturing a place without it being from an outsiders point of view so he had to wait till he felt he had fully immersed himself into the culture. When viewing these images I feel as though I am viewing the reality of a place as if I was someone who had lived there, this is interesting to me because its really clear that Orrantia spent a lot of time embracing the culture before taking his photos so that his viewers could understand an insiders point of view of the place. |
Luke Saxon questions
Where i grew up played a massive influence in my work as I enjoyed photographing the city as I was very familiar with London. Also, me being half Japanese has played a massive role in my interest in night photography because of how Tokyo is lit at night it makes me always want to take photos for when I visit. These relate back to my theme of movement because I have begun experimenting with catching the motion of vehicles within the city at night as I personally find the glowing trails of light visually pleasing and easy to process.
My work is heavily influenced by the photographer Liam Wong because I really enjoy the way he tackles night photography as he focuses a lot on illuminating lights that reveal certain elements in the photograph that you would normally not pay attention to if it was taken during the day.
